, founded by Tyler Brûlé (Wallpaper*, Monocle),
and our representative Unit9
we have created the interactive world of Eight Ties
for the French high fashion house
– a world full of patterns, shapes and colours. The theme of the new tie collection was the world around retro computing,
an exciting time of 8-bit sounds and colorful computer graphics.
Winkreative conceived a beautiful print catalog which went out at the same time as the interactive campaign
went live. We took parts of the catalogue for the interactive version
and hand-crafted other parts by frame-by-frame computer animations.
We used a rather outdated technology (Flash 8) to produce the campaign. This wasn't a clever conscious decision
to fit the theme, we had no other choice since we needed to make it compatible with Hermès' existing website.
Owing to our skilled developers (Tech Lead by Daniele Pelagatti, Unit9 Florence) and the open-mindness of the
design heroes from Winkreative we managed to pull it off regardless – while staying in budget and schedule – just as usual.
